Dorset Weather

Dorset boasts a mild and temperate climate. Its central position means that it does not experience the more extreme rainfall found in the more westerly parts of the United Kingdom or the cooler winter temperatures encountered in the east. However, the weather on the coast may differ from that inland on any day - for example, Dorset's downland can experience twice the rainfall as the coastal region. Some areas also appear to have their own micro-climate - for example, the area around Wareham and the eastern Jurrasic Coast generally experiences less snow than other areas.
